Fowler and Koepka slug it out at US Open

Paul Casey rode a rollercoaster to a four-way share of second-round lead at the U.S. Open on Friday but it was the end of the line for the world's three top-ranked players.

Another warm, dry day is drying out the course during the second round of the U.S. Open, and the players are noticing a difference.

McIlroy followed an opening-round 78 with a 71 and is now a combined 43 over par in 18 U.S. Open rounds since winning the tournament at Congressional in 2011. Harman was at 12-under 204 and still only had a one-shot lead, with Rickie Fowler two shots behind.

"I couldn't have shot any higher", Johnson said. There were 18 rounds in the 60s on Saturday.

If his hot pink trousers were not enough, Thomas finished in style.

"(Today) will be a very cool experience", Fleetwood said. "But I'm a pretty happy man".

Make it a six-way tie atop the U.S. Open leaderboard.

"The finish was awesome". He says the greens on his last few holes "were firming up".

"I have no expectations", he said. I got off to a good start but it sort of caught up with me as the round went on.

"I'm optimistic with where my game is ... some of where my game is". It sets up really well for me, especially if I'm driving it like I did today.

And he still has a long way to go.

It was another picture ideal day as golfers started the second round of the U.S. Open at Erin Hills. Arguably one of the shortest hitters in the field, Harman has used his precision iron play and silky putting to remain among the leaders. Fowler's streak ended at 28 holes, however, when he went just long on the 11th hole and had to chip sideways to have any chance of a reasonable par putt.

Mr Roy was first granted a four-week parole on May 6, 2016, to attend his mother's funeral. Permission is sought to sell the property at that rate.

Oosthuizen ran off four birdies on the front nine and made the turn at 4-under par, leaving him only three shots behind. He got that up-and-down for a bogey and a 68.

Leishman is now sharing 13th place, three shots off the pace. He was 10 under.

The big story from day two, though, was the amount of firepower that exited stage left before the weekend.

The past six majors have been won by first-timers, and that cycle has a good chance to continue. The 2014 runner-up is just one-shot behind alongside Jamie Lovemark and JB Holmes.

Even with the course drying out, there simply was not enough wind to frighten anyone on their game.

The U.S. Open was only his sixth start this year.

From that near meltdown, he hit the next wedge to 3 feet and made the putt to save a 6. He two-putted for birdie, and he rolled in a 25-foot birdie putt on the 17th.

"It doesn't matter how long, how whatever the course is", Thomas said about the longest course in major championship history. But he also struggled around the greens, failing to get up and down once in six opportunities. "But when you're visually looking down the fairway, I think when you're trying to aim at a target at a normal golf course, with normal width fairways, there's some pressure into hitting the fairway because it is a lot narrower than we have out here".

But the work is not done.

Day, the world number three, shot a 3-over-par 75 on day two to be 10-over and he will be joined by the likes of McIlroy in watching the remainder of tournament from the sidelines.

Holmes expects the scoring to get more hard over the final rounds.
