Dufner leads at midpoint of Memorial Tournament

Dufner leads at midpoint of Memorial Tournament

His pulse back to normal, which for Dufner means barely beating, he bounced back in a big way Sunday. It paid off on Sunday when he made a 30-foot par putt on the final hole that wrapped up his victory in the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.

But even for Watson, it all started with Dufner's bad day.

"I thought I was in control (after 36 holes and) I had to get over it quick". Its a 72-hole tournament, theres a lot of things that can happen out there. The 77 on Saturday dropped him four shots behind.

Day finished eight shots behind victor Jason Dufner (-13under) after a final round -2under par 70. I was able to get past that and focus today. That put him in the final group with Summerhays as Kuchar tries to end three years and 82 starts without a victory on the PGA Tour.

Kuchar, the 2014 Memorial champion, is seeking an eighth career PGA Tour win and his first since the Heritage in 2014.

The last time a player shot 77 or higher in the third round and won a PGA Tour event was Nick Faldo in the 1989 Masters.

He was happier about the first reference.

"I'd like to be closer", he said.

"It's paying a little bit better", Dufner answered.

Bal a Bali earned his second Grade 1 win of the year to go with his victory in the Frank E. Kilroe Mile over the same turf in March. He missed the putts he had been making for two days. Spieth and Justin Thomas (71) were tied for fourth and eight shots behind.

The 20-year-old Coletta shot a 73 and finished in a share of 25th.

Daniel Summerhays made bogey on his last hole and shot 69 to finish five shots behind Dufner.

Trump acknowledges for first time he's under investigation
Still, the snowballing investigation has deeply angered Trump, who denies he has any nefarious ties to Russian Federation. The official demanded anonymity because the official was not authorized to be named discussing the deliberations.

Dufner had one stretch on the front nine of bogey-birdie-bogey-birdie-bogey. So many putts were just so close.

"Majors are very hard to win, but I feel like I have the type of game to compete".

He stuffed his approach on No. 10 to 4 feet and holed a 10-foot birdie putt on the par-3 12th.

It was Dufner who finally emerged from the pack with a birdie on No. 15, one of seven holes under par.

Dufner now might be deluged by his peers looking for the same reading material that got him into the winner's circle.

Dufner drove it into the right rough on 18 before lightning hit and play was suspended.

"There were times when the ball wasn't where I wanted it to be, but I made some great escapes", Donaldson said.

With this runner-up result, Fowler now has four top-five finishes already this year.

This is only Dufner's second PGA Tour win since he put on a ball-striking clinic at Oak Hill almost four years ago to win the PGA. Keeping it together through two rain delays he turned out to be the strongest player at Muirfield Village and he won by three in the event hosted by Jack Nicklaus.

The volatility began on Saturday, when Dufner quickly spit up the five-shot lead he'd built with a pair of 65s in the first two rounds that got him to a tournament-record 14-under par through 36 holes.

Jason Dufner moved five shots clear of the field in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village on Friday. Lahiri closed in 65 to jump 25 spots.
