Cosby's accuser denies they were romantically involved

Andrea Constand testifies during Bill Cosby's trial at the Montgomery County Courthouse on June 6, 2017 in Norristown, Pennsylvania.

And when challenged Wednesday over perhaps the most glaring discrepancy in her account - telling police early on that the assault occurred in March 2004 after a dinner out with Cosby and his friends and then saying Tuesday it happened months earlier after a quiet night alone with him in his home - Constand remained unfazed.

Gianna Constand, a thin Canadian woman, whose testimony was polite but firm, said she noticed a change in her daughter when she moved home after the alleged 2004 assault. Feden pointedly asked Constand.

" 'I don't really remember how dim the lights were, but I did have to eat my dinner, ' Constand said".

On Wednesday, Agrusa was trying a different tack, implying that Constand and Cosby's relationship had been romantic in nature. At the same time, Constand said, she was bringing Cosby a gift from a mutual acquaintance. "He betrayed her. He drugged her and then put her on the Chesterfield and did whatever he wanted", she said. "He said, 'But don't worry, mom".

THE DEFENSE RESPONDS: Cosby's lawyer pressed Constand on the nature of the relationship, suggesting she'd enjoyed a romantic dinner with him and he'd signaled his interest by touching her thigh and trying to unbutton her trousers.

So, when Cosby called the Constand residence again on January 17, Gianna Constand did record the conversation, according to testimony.

This news organization does not typically identify people who say they are sexual assault victims unless they grant permission, which Constand has done.

But throughout her almost seven hours on the stand over two days, Constand was unwavering in her testimony, according to the Associated Press.

Rizzo leads off, goes long; Happ hits slam as Cubs rout Mets
Wheeler surrendered a career-high eight runs while tossing a career-low 1 2/3 innings in a 14-1 loss to the Cubs at Citi Field. Jay Bruce followed by whiffing and Neil Walker walked to bring up Lucas Duda , who also struck out to end the inning.

"You knew Mr Cosby was married, right?"

Agrusa suggested to Constand that perhaps her client apologized for upsetting her, or because he "had been in a relationship" with her daughter. The defense never asked what the calls were about or why she made them. "I learned more about it from the defendant than I did from her", Gianna Constand said.

Referencing dozens of phone calls between Constand and a young woman, often before or after her meetings with Cosby, the defense also suggested that Constand may have been open to manipulation.

Cosby says that he gave Ms Constand the antihistamine Benadryl only to relieve stress, insisting that their sexual relations were consensual and accusing her of lying.

Constand was direct and polite under cross-examination, even when Cosby lawyer Angela Agrusa's questioning grew pointed and accusatory.

Bill Cosby's chief accuser says she shot down the actor's casual advances twice before she found herself paralyzed and unable to fight him off the night she took pills he said were herbal supplements.

And in all of those statements, Constand said Cosby sexually assaulted her and she did not consent. I said, 'I don't care for storytelling, I want you to tell me the truth.' I felt we had been on the phone long enough, we had covered many, many things about his own personal life where he admitted he was a sick man, and he said what can I do, and what can I do for Andrea. After Constand's testimony on Tuesday, Cosby shouted his famous Fat Albert catchphrase "Hey, hey, hey" to bystanders. There were a few efforts to reach Cosby the December after she left the university, though.

Wearing a two-piece suit and sporty white sneakers, Constand frequently fiddled with her reading glasses during the cross examination, sometimes having trouble following the evidence and requesting assistance from the attorneys.
