17th arrest made in Manchester terror attack

Police arrested a 24-year-old man Friday night in southern Manchester, part of the investigation into last week's suicide bombing that killed 22 people at a Ariana Grande concert in the northern English city. "He was arrested on suspicion of offenses contrary to the terrorism act".

Friday night's arrest came hours after officers seized a vehicle in Rusholme which they said could provide a "significant development" in the ongoing investigation into whether Abedi, a Mancunian of Libyan descent, had relied on a wider network or acted largely alone.

The arrest, which was made in Manchester, took to 11 the number of people being held in custody over the attack, all of them men, the police said.

The man is the 17th that has been arrested in connection with May 22 attacks.

Sheriff: Disgruntled Ex-Worker Killed 5, Then Himself
Fiamma calls itself one of the largest manufacturers of awnings for camper vans, motor coaches and sport utility vehicles. Authorities had confronted Neumann once before at the factory, when he was accused of battering a co-worker in June 2014.

That Abedi was in contact with the terrorist cell brings up the possibility that Islamic State operatives in Libya have now twice directed attacks in Europe.

Police named Abedi, 22, as the suicide bomber behind the May 22 attack at the Manchester Arena.

He added: 'A total of 12 men remain in custody for questioning'. Abedi himself had returned from Libya, known to be a hotbed of IS activity, four days before carrying out the bombing.

It's unclear what sort of communication occurred between Abedi and the ISIS unit Katibat al-Battar al-Libi, which also happened to be linked to the devastating November 2015 terror attack in Paris, The New York Times reports.
