US raid kills 7 al-Qaida militants in Yemen

Yemeni tribal sources said the operation targeted a residential block held by Al-Qaeda fighters in the village of Al-Hathla, in a mountainous district in the southeast of Marib province.

"During this operation, US forces killed seven AQAP militants through a combination of small arms fire and precision airstrikes", the statement said.

According to the officials, there was also bombing in nearby Bayda province.

In a statement, the US Central Command says the militants were members of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP).

The Marib raid is the second publicly known USA ground deployment in Yemen this year against al Qaida militants.

US forces conducted a counter-terrorism operation in Yemen on Tuesday and killed seven militants of al-Qaeda terrorist group, outlawed in Russia, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement.

Kawhi Leonard ruled out for Game 4 vs. Warriors
In the third quarter of Game 1 , Leonard re-aggrevated an ankle injury after landing on Warriors center Zaza Pachulia's foot. We hope that it's not, and that we have a few more. "Once it's over, then I'll start thinking about what the future brings".

Two US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said separately that there were no known US casualties and the raid was carried out 40-45 km north of another US raid that took place in late January.

The US has increased attacks against AQAP, which it regards as the most unsafe branch of the armed group, since President Donald Trump took office in January. Women and children, as well as several militants, were also killed in the raid.

More than 75 United States air strikes carried out since the beginning of the year have reflected an nearly double increase in the yearly totals since the drone programme against al Qaida in Yemen began in 2009, according to analysts.

The militant group has also effectively emerged as a de facto ally of the US -backed Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and his backers Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in the battle against the Shiite rebels.

Al-Qaeda has taken advantage of the chaos caused by the conflict in Yemen to entrench its presence in the south and south-east of the country. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
