Trump's communications director Mike Dubke resigns

Mike Dubke has resigned as White House communications director in the first of what could be a series of changes to President Donald Trump's senior staff amid the growing Russian Federation scandal.

Trump did not immediately address Dubke's resignation.

According to Heat Street sources close to the White House, his resignation came at the behest of Trump's inner circle, but Dubke didn't complain.

"I think we could do with a little less drama from the White House on a lot of things so that we can focus on our agenda, which is deregulations, tax reform and repealing and replacing Obamacare", Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said earlier in May.

Next, Trump tried to intimidate his former Federal Bureau of Investigation director into silence by threatening to release secret recordings of their conversations - a claim that his communications team had no legally sound means of publicly defending.

Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, whose future has been the subject of much speculation, would stay on in this situation, but he might lead fewer on-camera daily briefings, the advisers said.

When pressed on whether the president would approve of such a back channel with Russia, Spicer said, "You're asking if he approves of an action that is not a confirmed action".

Still, Dubke's departure magnified the sense that Trump's staff stands on shaky ground. The publication alleges that the President did not have a foreign policy doctrine ahead of his first foreign trip, and that was essentially one of Mr. Dubke's responsibilities as communications director.

For months rumors have echoed around the West Wing about Trump being poised to fire his public relations staff en masse.

Trump also is meeting about the Federal Bureau of Investigation opening with Chris Wray, a former assistant attorney general at the Justice Department.

Over time, Dubke felt like he wasn't making progress with the president or his penchant for off-message tweets. I did not know him well.

"I think we had an outstanding performance from the first minute onwards", Wenger said after Arsenal's record 13th success in the competition.

Reporters asked about progress being made on issues like tax reform and referenced tweets from Trump over the weekend that celebrated advancements in the "process" making it "ahead of schedule".

"Their response has been to crawl into a hole", the source said. He was never mad at the communications team itself, but he knew he was being buried in negative press.

One Republican strategist described Dubke's job to CNN Tuesday as "impossible", adding, "Mike is a good guy".

But the broad consensus in Washington is that Dubke had an impossible job.

I want to begin by recapping the incredible, historic trip that the president and first lady have just concluded because it truly was an extraordinary week for America and our people.

Spicer filled the role of communications director before Dubke's hiring, but the dual workload became too heavy for him.

Mr Dubke is the latest White House staffer to leave this administration as scrutiny intensifies over contacts Trump staffers may have had with Russian government officials during the campaign and transition period.

The President's inner circle has been preparing a series of shifts meant to deal with growing inquiries into any contact between Mr Trump and Russian Federation during last year's presidential campaign and the transition before the inauguration. David Bossie, who served as a deputy campaign manager for Trump, will not be named communications director.

The Republican President has also repeatedly expressed frustration with internal leaks coming from the White House.

"The reason the president is frustrated is there is a use of unnamed sources about things that are happening that don't ultimately happen", he said.
