Trump to Muslims on first foreign trip: Drive out terrorists

Salman Al-Ansari, president of the Saudi American Public Relation Affairs Committee (SAPRAC), said US President Donald Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia holds unprecedented strategic significance in strengthening bilateral ties, especially given that for the first time in history the Kingdom will be the first country visited by a sitting US president while on their duties overseas.

As he arrived, the president waved from the doorway of Air Force One and then descended the steps, joined by First Lady Melania Trump.

He's the only American president to make Saudi Arabia, or any majority Muslim country, his first stop overseas as president.

Trump is also expected to meet with Saudi officials with an aim to enhance historic relations and will participate in a signing ceremony of several agreements that will further solidify US-Saudi security and economic cooperation.

Trump and Salman spoke through an interpreter inside the airport terminal after the president stepped off Air Force One.

Trump will also travel to Israel, have an audience with Pope Francis at the Vatican, and attend the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels and the Group of 7 meeting in Sicily.

President Donald Trump had criticized former first lady Michelle Obama for not wearing a head scarf during a January 2015 visit to the nation with then-President Barack Obama. The two leaders shared a long drive from the airport to central Riyadh, where the President is staying, and Trump was due to spent much of Saturday in meetings with Salman and his government, including the powerful deputy crown prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Trump tells Russians Comey was a 'nut job'
The president again pointed to Rosenstein's "very, very strong" letter as a partial explanation of his decision to fire Comey. The Justice Department on Friday issued the text of Rosenstein's opening remarks for the briefings on Capitol Hill.

Trump has fueled the Russian Federation controversy by firing the man who was originally leading the Russian Federation probe, FBI Director James Comey, in an apparent bid to stop the investigation. Billboards featuring the image of Trump and the king dotted the highways of Riyadh and lights bathed Trump's luxury hotel in red, white and blue lights and, at times, an image of the president's face.

"We are not here to lecture - to tell other peoples how to live, what to do or who to be".

In a sweetener for Saudi Arabia, U.S. officials said the Trump administration plans to announce $110 billion in advanced military equipment sales and training to the kingdom during the president's trip.

Saturday night, he'll attend a royal banquet at Murabba Palace followed by a tour of the National Museum.

Trump is to deliver a speech on Sunday aimed at rallying Muslims in the fight against Islamic militants in Riyadh on Sunday.

The speech envisions new partnerships with America's traditional allies in the Middle East.

White House aides had hoped Trump's ambitious foreign swing would provide relief from a barrage of bad headlines.
