Trump seeks to move past controversies as he lands in Riyadh

President Donald Trump is set to arrive in Saudi Arabia on Saturday morning, for a historic meeting tipped to "turn the page" on US-Arab affairs after a strained relationship under the previous American administration.

The bans, which were blocked by USA courts, did not include Saudi Arabia - one of the main United States allies in the Middle East - among the blacklisted countries, although 15 of the 19 men involved in the September 11, 2001, attacks were Saudi citizens. The complex itinerary will bring Trump to the capitals of three great world religions and introduce him to the sometimes-grueling pace of presidential foreign travel.

Trump and his wife Melania, who dressed conservatively in black but did not cover her hair, walked side-by-side to the tarmac where they both shook hands with Saudi King Salman. The royal red carpet welcome - which featured a military brass band and a fighter jet flyover - was a demonstration of just how highly anticipated Trump's arrival was to this Middle Eastern kingdom.

Air Force One had barely taken off when it was announced that James Comey, the former Federal Bureau of Investigation chief fired by Trump, had agreed to testify publicly about Russian interference in the USA elections.

After spending much of Saturday meeting with King Salman and other members of the royal family, Trump was to end the day at a banquet dinner at the Murabba Palace.

President Donald Trump is stepping off Air Force One in Saudi Arabia to begin his first global trip since taking office.

Trump has fueled the Russian Federation controversy by firing the man who was originally leading the Russian Federation probe, FBI Director James Comey, in an apparent bid to stop the investigation.

"As a candidate for the Oval Office, Donald Trump was not shy about criticizing Saudi Arabia".

Big man leads Celtics to big win in series decider
Just a few minutes later, Smart took the same walk and smiled at Olynyk - already sitting in his vehicle and waiting to go home. The Wizards' best season in almost four decades came to a close on Monday night in a 115-105 loss to the Celtics in Boston .

That hasn't dampened expectations for Trump's arrival in the Arab Gulf, however. Saudi Arabia also stands as a stabilizing force in the region-being one of a few stronger governments. A five story image of Trump's face was projected on the exterior of the hotel he'll stay in when he arrives, and large billboards of Trump and King Salman lined the highway from the airport. He is also hoping to move past the controversies engulfing his administration.

"I'll speak with Muslim leaders and challenge them to fight hatred and extremism, and embrace a peaceful future for their faith", Trump said ahead of his visit.

Trump was greeted by King Salman of Saudi Arabia. The package includes tanks, combat ships, missile defense systems, radar and communications and cybersecurity technology. Like past U.S. first ladies visiting Saudi Arabia, Mrs. Trump's hair was not covered in the local custom, and she shook Salman's hand upon arriving in the kingdom.

"Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what the hell is going on", he told a rally in the state of SC in December past year.

Trump is to hold talks with King Salman and the kingdom's two powerful crown princes later on Saturday, before giving a speech on Islam to leaders of Muslim countries on Sunday.

"The President has not seen this draft", White House spokesman Sean Spicer said.

He spent the remainder of the time reading newspapers and getting very little sleep, according to an aide.
