Samsung Pay now available in the UK

The S8 allows you to authenticate a payment through Samsung Pay with a PIN, a fingerprint or - on the S8 and S8+ - an iris scan. Okay, fine, yes, not all of you either - only owners of those handsets with accounts at Santander, Nationwide or MBNA.

Samsung Pay has support for only a few financial institutions right now. That would expand the service's reach to also include include compatibility with non-contactless payment devices in stores up and down the country. Samsung Pay supports the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge as well as the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, provided that they're running Nougat. Samsung says that more devices will be added to the list "in the coming months". The device has already received major certifications, including the FCC. To make it work, the user has to select the bank card stored on Samsung Pay and hold the phone close to the terminal when making a payment.

Considering that the smartphones are still not launched in China, Samsung seems to be doing good with its latest innovation. "Every Samsung Pay transaction made with Mastercard is highly secure - a critical part of this is our ability to tokenise cardholder details".

Samsung Pay is Samsung's version of Apple Pay and Android Pay.

Meanwhile, Apple said more than one million credit cards were registered in the USA in the first three days of availability of Apple Pay, and in the first month of availability, it was responsible for 1% of digital payments in the US.

Sales of the Galaxy S8 are reportedly off to a great start. We're sure this will be quickly rectified, however.

It is available on compatible Samsung devices including Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Note 5, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, plus the Galaxy S8 and S8 and the Gear S2 and S3 smartwatches.

According to some of the new images which we have, it looks like the company is indeed planning on putting this button in the upcoming C10 smartphone as well.
