Petra Kvitova will compete in French Open after miraculous recovery

Less than a week after the two-time Wimbledon champion announced that she was preparing to make her return at the All England Club after nearly seven months away from tennis following a stabbing attack to her left hand, she has arrived in Paris ready to play.

A spokeswoman announced earlier on Thursday that the Czech star would make a "last minute decision" on whether she will participate in Paris with Kvitova herself later stating she will hold a press conference on the grounds as to her decision.

Kvitova said this week she is also set to play at Wimbledon later in the year where she has won the title twice. At No. 86, Boserup is just one place off her career-high ranking, and even in Kvitova's pomp, consistency was never her strong point - so anything is possible. I'm happy that I like challenges.

Watson lose the opening 10 games of the match and at 6-0 4-0 look to be staring at the dreaded double bagel but after treatment on a hip injury she picked up a couple of games before a comprehensive 6-0 6-3 defeat to Hogenkamp. Hopefully one day everything will be ideal, but we don't know that yet. It wasn't easy, but I'm happy that I've worked through this and I can play tennis again. I know it's a Grand Slam, but it's good practice.

Kvitova, her voice wavering, said: "Not many people believed that I can play tennis again. So I'm happy that I can be here". And I was traveling to Grenoble to see the hand specialist, as well.

Trump makes G7 deal on trade, takes rain check on climate
On Saturday, Trump said in a Twitter post he would make a decision on whether to support the Paris climate deal next week. Trump indicated that his biggest goal of the trip was to rally the world against radical Islamic terrorism.

"Of course I'm sad; I don't want to hide that", Halep said of her disappointment. "That's one of the things I felt like I needed is new inspiration, someone that knows exactly what I'm going through, you know, on the court, off the court".

"I didn't sleep well the days after, but I wasn't really staying alone", she said. "Suddenly I couldn't do what I love". So I took the positive one, and I was really trying hard to get proper movement back in my hand. "Sometimes I just stand outside and see the sun and say, 'It's lovely'".

"I don't really have nightmares, but from the beginning I was feeling really weird when I went in the city or somewhere. Maybe it will be different when the nerves come and I get tight, but so far it's been OK". But with time, it's better. It is a special grand slam because I grew up playing on clay courts.

Serena Williams, a three-time victor in Paris, is curently pregnant and not expected to play again until next season, while Maria Sharapova was not offered a wild card into the event - one she needed in order to play due to her 15-month drugs ban which was completed only after the entry cut-off point.
