Kane scores 4 as EPL runner-up Tottenham routs Leicester 6-1

Star striker Harry Kane smashed four times as Tottenham once again produced a spectacular performance to sweep aside title holder Leicester City 6-1 in their penultimate Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium on Friday.

Tottenham, who are guaranteed to finish second place this season, took on the team to whom they lost out on the Premier League title past year on Thursday night.

Chelsea is leading the standings with 90 points, Tottenham is at second place with 83 points while Manchester City is at third place with 75 points.

"I was looking to get one or two goals at least and then hopefully take it into the last game, now I'm in the driving seat at the minute but there's still one game to play so I'm not resting on my laurels".

In addition to taking the lead in the Golden Boot race, Kane also became the fifth player to have back-to-back 25-goal seasons in the Premier League.

Apart from an error from Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris - which allowed Ben Chilwell to score - the visitors were always on top with Leicester now destined to finish mid-table.

Vardy saw appeals for a penalty waved away when Alderweireld shouldered him to the ground after an error from Eric Dier, and it got worse for Leicester before the break, Alli clipping the ball over Yohan Benalouane and Son steering a volley into the bottom-right corner to make it 2-0.

Shakespeare himself had clearly seen enough from the Foxes' first half showing, and gave human hornets nest Shinji Okazaki his mandatory substitution, for Islam Slimani, to try and face Spurs' stripy, mustard onslaught head-on.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was in fine form on Thursday evening.

Chilwell calmly put the ball into the back of the net after Lloris denied Vardy from scoring and from their Ndidi found the left-back and he took his time before placing the ball in the goal. The 23-year-old blasted a low shot from the edge of the area that seemed to fool Schmeichel as it flew beneath him and into the net, before being granted time and space to produce an nearly identical finish to cap a dominant display. Kane had not finished when he scored again in stoppage time, with nearly a carbon copy of his third, beating Schmeichel low to his right from the edge of the area. If you get beaten 6-1 there are no positives.

Greatest one season wonder of all time.
