Ducks look to rebound in Game vs Oilers

Patrick Maroon scored the decisive goal and Cam Talbot stopped 39 of 40 shots as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 on Friday at the Honda Center. The Ducks are 2-0 on the road this year in the playoffs and they will be by far the more desperate team in this one.

But despite being two games away from a return visit, with Game 3 on Sunday in Edmonton, the Oilers understand the slim margin they have navigated in being up two games instead of down by two. Jordan Eberle fired a centring pass towards the crease and it struck Maroon in the right skate.

Letestu scored his second power-play goal with 13:37 to play before Larsson put the Oilers up 3-1.

During his media and availability, Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle also confirmed that defenceman Kevin Bieksa will be out of the game due to a lower body injury.

Russell finally gave the Rogers Place crowd something to cheer about when his shot from the point deflected off Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Maroon and past Gibson with 40 seconds left in the opening period. McDavid took advantage of an Anaheim turnover and created a highlight reel goal.

However, Getzlaf said the series may have taken a turn in the Ducks' favor in the final 30 minutes Sunday when the team refused to quit after an Edmonton comeback he said was deflating. "We just have to find ways to play our game, play with the confidence we've been playing with all year". He now has one in two appearances as a visitor.

For the Ducks, they found themselves in a role-reversal from their first-round series against the Calgary Flames.

Southampton fans bemused by Puel's team selection for Liverpool clash
Unfortunately for the Reds, Milner's low penalty was saved emphatically by Forster, and the scoreline remained untouched. Southampton boss Claude Puel appeared somewhat surprised this week when he was asked about reports regarding his future.

"We've been in this position before", Ducks defenceman Cam Fowler said.

The Oilers have leaned on him over the last two seasons after getting him from the New York Rangers, where he backed up Henrik Lundqvist for two seasons. "We lost the first game, we couldn't lose this one". But after that series, perhaps the Oilers have learned to keep their cool, and they don't seem to be intimidated by the Ducks.

If they plan on winning either Game 3 or Game 4, something needs to change, and they are running out of time to figure it out. You have to give the Oilers first blood here, (I mean, they won the game, duh) because McDavid's line was crucial to the victory, even if it was Draisaitl doing the most damage on the scoreboard. Sekera fired a slapshot to the short side off Gibson's right stick hand and in. The microphone was back in operation by the time Robert Clark came on the ice to perform the Canadian anthem. Historically, the Oilers are 19-0 when leading a playoff series 2-0.

Vermette's chance came after a goaltender interference penalty waived off a goal for the Oilers.

Letestu got almost identical goals from almost identical spots on the ice, positioning himself to Gibson's right to capitalize on rebounds. The puck trickled through Talbot's legs and was inching towards the goal but the Oilers were able to pull it off the line.

"We thought about maybe bowling or something like that, but we'll make the decision on how our players feel", Carlyle said.

"When you have players like Leon and Connor, those guys, you have to get on the rush if you want to have your opportunities", Larsson said. "We have a bunch of great leaders on this team and can handle those momentum swings".
