Alexis and Giroud praised by Arsenal boss whilst hailing strong performance

The Daily Mirror say Giroud is determined to play regular first-team football next season so that he stands a chance of making France's squad for the World Cup in Russian Federation.

The attacking duo are out of contract next year and are yet to sign reportedly lucrative terms to remain at Emirates Stadium.

Wins for Wenger and Pep Guardiola on Tuesday night have left the Gunners one point outside the top four and a sweat is on now for Liverpool.

Arsenal now ultimately need to beat Everton and for Liverpool to lose or draw against Middlesbrough on the final day of the season to keep their record of Champions League qualification alive, but Wenger is keeping an optimistic outlook on the situation.

'I would hate it if anyone would question me if I was going to chuck a game away'.

They still have the FA Cup final to prepare for, but first, Everton on Sunday.

Wenger was again asked about his future. You have certainly to know that there are many aspects of a football club which have to be discussed at a board meeting. It's all very well looking for something or someone to blame by complaining about supposed lack of effort from other teams when you've not been good enough yourselves to achieve your targets.

"Of course I will be there".

Economic growth slowed in the first quarter but the labor market performed reasonably well. Some experts though are not so optimistic on the future wage growth.

"I think we also have the option to do so, to reinforce the team and be stronger".

Wenger is an admirer of the 24-year-old's talents, but did not add him to the now infamous list of stellar names he claims to have tried and failed to bring to Arsenal.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "We're expecting a Merseyside tug-of-war for The Ox's signature when the transfer window opens, but right now it's Koeman who's on the back foot as Klopp looks to have got his man".

Wenger's contract with Arsenal expires after the season and, while there have been reports that the club offered him a new two-year deal, that has not been confirmed.

"I never saw one player in my life go to the pitch and don't try to win the game and when the target is done, it's done", Guardiola said on Monday.

"More importantly, I thought we passed the ball well when we got it, and I thought the players played like we've probably played for eight or nine weeks".

"I'm here to serve the club and the best way to do that is to win the next game".
