According to the NPD Group result, the Switch outsold both the Sony's and Microsoft's gaming console during March. On the other hand, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Switch's launch title - had been managed to have 925,000 copies sold in March. The record only applies to the USA market, not globally, a spokesman for the Kyoto-based company said.
Citigroup has also set a sales target of 6.7 million units for the as-yet unconfirmed (and likely non-existent) console through the fiscal year March 2019.
The figure, courtesy of research firm SuperData, tops Nintendo's projection of about 2 million units for the month.
The Nintendo Switch is selling fast and breaking records at Nintendo. If true, Nintendo's hybrid is already well on its way to achieving the projected 7.2 million in 2017, and could even exceed that number if holiday sales are particularly strong. The demand for the console is very high that makes every retail and online store immediately sold out their newly arrived Switch stocks.
The only answer for more copies of Zelda being sold than units of the Switch is fans are buying gear and games before they buy the Switch.
EU's Juncker, Barnier to Visit Britain's May Next Week
Recent opinion polls suggest a clear lead for May's Conservatives over the main opposition Labour Party. Meanwhile, EU's foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said negotiations with Britain would be hard .
This is not very surprising, as the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is one of the biggest games that is available for the Nintendo Switch at the time of launch and the attach rate between the console and this game is nearly one to one.
It out-sold every single prior Nintendo product in their first-month release, including the Wii, and the Gameboy Advance. Where its long-term game stands has yet to be seen, as it's still working to make the system readily available to buyers interested in it. One might even call them collectors, if you will. Do you think Nintendo's newest console will be successful as the Wii had been?
Regardless of why The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Switch sold more copies than there are Switch units, it's hard to deny that the game deserves it. Breath of the Wild has the record for most ideal scores out of any other video game released to date, and even spent some time as the highest-rated game ever before some lower scores brought down its average rating.
With several big releases coming this summer such as ARMS, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splatoon 2, Nintendo has to be happy with the story so far.
