For more than half a century, the comedian and actor dubbed Mr Warmth headlined casinos and nightclubs across the United States and often appeared on late-night TV talk shows. Rickles, naturally, did not spare the president ("Am I going too fast for you, Ronnie?" he asked) and considered that performance among the highlights of his career.

And Jimmy feels "lucky" he had the chance to meet the star and has credited him as the "greatest talk show guest".

Rickles was born in New York City on May 8, 1926, to Max and Etta Rickles, according to an official biography from the comedian's spokesperson.
The 90-year-old helped insult comedy become mainstream, and once said he turned to insulting people because he was bad at telling traditional jokes.
Hollywood actor Jim Carrey said: "Don once begged me for a couple of bucks then told me to twist myself into a pretzel".
