Microsoft commits to twice-yearly Windows 10 updates

The company has committed to releasing new feature update packs for its Windows 10 operating system every March and September, so that the software will evolve incrementally over time. And one of them will be in March and another will be in September.

"Our customers tell us a big part of that is because Windows 10 is the most secure version of Windows ever released and they see greater economic impact of their investment".

Microsoft flagged its new policy early past year, telling the users that Windows 10 will be the only supported Windows platform on Intel's upcoming 7th Gen Intel Core (Kaby Lake) based CPUs. For example, in the case of Windows 10 Creators Update, the recent version will be supported until September 2018. Microsoft announced that the they will release 2 major update to Windows 10 every year.

It can be recalled that Windows has stopped issuing updates to versions older than Windows 10 who have seventh-generation processors such as Kaby Lake and AMD Ryzen, giving users an error. Moreover, Microsoft is adding a lot of new Office 365 application compatibility, upgrade assessment tools and monitoring, to try to make Office 365 ProPlus upgrades much easier.

Microsoft's Windows 10 has proven extremely popular with the United States technology firm revealing that there are over 400 million active devices across the world. IT systems administrators can roll out the updates on a schedule, keeping up with the latest feature and security updates.

A campus-wide email sent April 13 by Provost Richard Locke and Vice President for Research David Savitz echoed these sentiments. This year, Earth Day will not be celebrated with a typical tree planting or with a platitude from a politician to recycle more.

On top of that, Microsoft confirmed that each feature release of Windows 10 will be supported for 18 months after it is first made generally available.

The firm says each of these releases will be supported for 18 months after its release.

We fixed an issue with Microsoft Edge where you might get into a bad state after opening a new Microsoft Edge windows and screen off with the JIT process suspended. That means the next major update to Windows 10, codenamed Redstone 3, is due out in September.

As with the previous two Redstone 3 builds, Build 16179 is light on visible new features and is mostly focused on some of the under-the-covers plumbing. These tasks include apps in the foreground, background music and more. If you're already looking ahead past the Creators Update, you now know about when Redstone 3 is scheduled to drop.
