McDonald's drive-thru pit stop leads to Facebook killer

"(Our parents) didn't talk it, they lived it. People would do things to us and we would say "Dad are you really going to forgive them, really?' and he would say 'Yes, we have to", Godwin-Baines said.

Almost 48 hours after the shooting death of Robert Godwin Sr., 74, on Easter Sunday, two of his daughters and the killer's ex-girlfriend met for the first time. She said she tried to reach him after the video was posted on Facebook but he never answered his phone.

On Monday, the family of Robert Godwin Sr. already expressed their forgiveness to Steve Stephens and urged him to surrender.

"I'm not happy he's dead at all, not at all".

Byes said the whole situation was scary and that she's glad it has come to an end, for the sake of her community and everyone involved in the case.

Stephens didn't want to wait.

Pennsylvania State Police troopers, joined by officers from the borough of Wesleyville, chased Stephens for about a mile along Buffalo Road, the state police said.

As police approached, Stephens killed himself.

Stephens had left the restaurant but stopped briefly when officers located his vehicle nearby.

Police said the woman he referred to was in a safe place.

The video was available for about 20 minutes after it was first reported to Facebook and about two hours after the killing. Godwin did not seem to recognize the name. The distressed suspect then shot the old man in the head after instructing him to say, "Joy Lane", his ex-girlfriend's name. "I am sorry that all of this has happened".

One of Mr Godwin's nine children, Debbie, said she wished her father's killer had been captured alive.

Stephens had been on the run for almost 48 hours after posting grisly video on Facebook of himself shooting and killing 74-year-old Robert Godwin, Sr.at 695 East 93rd Street in Cleveland.

This Sunday, April 16, 2017 frame from video posted on Facebook shows Robert Godwin Sr.in Cleveland moments before being fatally shot. Two cars were in front of his, and police were on the way by the time Stephens reached the pickup window.
