Internal memo on Bill O'Reilly sent to Fox News employees

Earlier Tuesday, attorney Lisa Bloom said she had taken the case of a sixth woman who claims O'Reilly sexually harassed her.

Fox News has chose to part ways with star cable news host Bill O'Reilly following allegations of sexual harassment, the company said.

5 p.m. ET - a one hour program hosted by Eric Bolling to debut on May 1.

At 7 p.m. EDT, Martha MacCullum remains in place. The network said that Carlson's show will have the same tone as The O'Reilly Factor, Variety said.

Sean Hannity will keep his current time slot at 10:00 p.m.

Fox News' decision to oust former network star and disgraced commentator Bill O'Reilly amid an avalanche of sexual harassment allegations was celebrated as a victory for women in the workplace Wednesday.

On Wednesday, 21st Century Fox announced that the longtime conservative talk show host would not return to the network after advertisers dropped the show in droves following multiple allegations of sexual harassment against him.

He had been scheduled to return from a holiday next Monday.

Bill, who has been on vacation in Italy for the past week, sat in a V.I.P. section and shook hands with The Pope, according to The New York Times.

It marks a stunning end to a near-perfect marriage between a pugnacious personality and network. His show drew a whopping 3.98 million viewers during the first quarter of 2017 - making it the most-watched cable news program in America.

The reports alleged that O'Reilly would repeatedly befriend junior women and offer to act as a mentor before trying to pursue relationships and attempting to sabotage their careers if they turned him down. Fox News should have fired him in 2004 when (former Fox News producer) Andrea Mackris spoke out, but at least they did it now. O'Reilly has denied wrongdoing.

Vatican spokesman Greg Burke confirmed O'Reilly was in the VIP section for the pope's Wednesday appearance.

O'Reilly's departure follows a tumultuous period for the right-wing news channel. According to the Times, documents revealed reports of conduct including "verbal abuse, lewd comments, unwanted advances, and phone calls in which it sounded as if Mr. O'Reilly was masturbating".

NY magazine's Gabriel Sherman reported Wednesday morning that in negotiating his exit, O'Reilly asked for an opportunity to bid farewell to his loyal audience and that network executives were leaning toward granting his request.

When the Republican Party convened in Cleveland in July to nominate Donald Trump for president, Fox News was led by Chairman Roger Ailes and the prime-time lineup of Greta Van Susteren, Bill O'Reilly, Megyn Kelly and Sean Hannity.
