Apple to replace iPad 4th gen with iPad Air 2

It has come to our knowledge that Apple will replace a user's iPad 4 with an iPad Air 2 if the need arises.

A week ago, reports have started circulating about an Apple-wide policy stating that the older iPads that come in for service must be replaced with iPad Air 2 fix stock. The iPad Air 2 comes in a gold variant apart from the regular silver and white ones and offers only 32GB and 128GB models since the 16GB and 64GB have already been discontinued. Moreover, the new device they will receive has newer components and it's more powerful than the previous version overall. It is important to note though that the availability of a free iPad Air 2 unit replacement may vary per region. That might be the case, as also surprising is a new report that Apple is instructing employees to replace faulty 4th generation iPad models with iPad Air 2 tablets.

One of the vital point, to be remembered is that taking a five-year-old damaged Apple iPad 4 to the fix center does not guarantee the users of the new shiny model. This means if you the area you're living in that has iPad 4 in stock, then you won't be getting an iPad Air 2. For those who want to bring in their iPad for servicing, it is advisable to check with Apple stores or authorized service providers if they are eligible for an upgrade.

If you own a 4th generation iPad that is covered by Apple Care and is broken, send it over to Apple. As the iPad Air 2 offers a slew of improvements over the iPad 4, including a faster processor, Touch ID fingerprint scanner integrated with the Home Button, improved front and rear cameras, along with a slimmer design and enhanced retina display.

There is some good news for Apple iPad users. It is now simply named "iPad". Bump it up to $459 and you'll get cellular connectivity on top of Wi-Fi. The chances that Apple will launch an iPad event in April are high.

However, while there is a bit of catch, this is still potentially a great way to get a free upgrade.
