German police have arrested a 19-year-old man suspected of killing a nine-year-old boy and posting pictures of the victim's body on the internet.
Hundreds of officers spent three days hunting the suspect, identified by police as Marcel Hesse, until he gave himself up late Thursday. With one hand bound in a makeshift bandage, the other carrying an umbrella and a net of onions, the black-clad man ordered owner Georgios Chaitidis to call the police.
Somebody who saw the footage Hesse posted on the Dark Web, showing him killing the boy, called the police and told them about the murder.
Following his arrest, H. allegedly directed police to a burnt-out apartment building, also in Herne. Hesse was there and he asked Jaden if he could come to his home to help him set up a pair of ladders.
Just 150 meters away a flat was burning where a body was discovered inside.
Forensic experts are examining an apartment in western Germany where the body of a man was found, believed to be the second victim of a 19-year-old suspected of killing a boy.
Tom Brady's Super Bowl Jersey Recovered, Stolen By Media Member
The outlet said that its editors hadn't known about Ortega's connection to the jersey disappearance until the news today. Dan Patrick called in a unit of the state Department of Public Safety to help determine the whereabouts of the jersey.
"The arrested person contacted the police and made reference to a fire in Herne", said a police spokesman on Friday.
Police then found the body of the boy; he had been stabbed to death, reported The Independent. "The picture of my stepson lying there dead...."
They said Hesse knows martial arts and could be armed and risky. "I found him lying in a giant lake of his own blood", is how he described the scene to reporters. The parents returned home two hours later and Jaden had not returned home.
And he was later said to have boasted to a friend: "I know that people die slowly when you slaughter them".
Hesse, who was this afternoon revealed to have been rejected by the German Bundeswehr army for service because he was too unstable, mentioned "torture" to get the woman's bank details and pin card number. The slain child was the son of the suspect's neighbor and had been stabbed more than 50 times.
A lawyer for the victim's family said they were badly affected by the fact that the suspect was still on the loose, and said Hesse was known for his unusual behavior.
